What is Culture?

Answer:
Culture is the collection of ideas, styles, works, arts, values, manners, ideologies, traditions, history, philosophies, etc. of
a particular group of people.  There are different components to culture, for example that of material culture (the artifacts and works produced by a certain group of people) non-material culture (that of dancing, oral tradition, etc.).

Culture is a broad concept and the word is sometimes used synonymously with nation, ethnic group, religious following or movement.  For example, one may refer to the Asian culture when speaking of basic philosophical and social differences between East and West.  One can also use the word culture when discussing the punk music and related fashion phenomenon that started in the 1970s.  Sometimes, people use the word culture to refer only to certain aspects of high culture, referring to fine art, classical music, and the like.

Scientifically, culture refers to growing certain living organisms, like fungus or bacteria, in a controlled environment.  For example, microbe cultures are grown in Petri dishes and under close observation.
