What is Glass?

Answer:
Glass is a substance formed from melting silicate based materials at a very high temperature and cooling them quickly.
Obsidian is a naturally occurring glass formed by volcanic activity, and it is possible for a lighting strike to create natural glass on a beach where it hits the sand. However, the majority of glass used today is man-made from silica, soda and lime.

The most common source of silica is sand. Glass can be poured or blown into any number of shapes and sizes from clear glass test tubes to rippled, tinted glass flowers in a sculpture covering a casino ceiling which is what makes it so useful to so many individuals. Although it is a brittle substance, it will not contaminate the contents of anything held inside of it, nor will it conduct electricity.
