What is Film?

Answer:
Film is a thin layer of something or a thin substance. The term film has become synonymous with photographic film,
a thin material upon which successive photos can be recorded and when played back give the impression of continuous motion.

Subsequently the word film has expanded in definition to include not just the physical filmstrip of a movie, but the entire industry involved in producing movies (also called films.) Though film has a long history of more than 100 years, significant changes in access to cheaper production choices, such as videotape or digital recordings, has opened up the industry around the world in the latter quarter of the century.
