Do you have any Suggestions for Placing Landscaping Lights?

Answer:
There are two main reasons for installing landscaping
lights. One is to highlight the nighttime splendor of the garden, and the other is to illuminate a path or walkway. There is no reason why landscaping lights cannot accomplish both goals at the same time.

Whether installing solar powered landscape lighting or the traditional electrical variety, it is best to place the lighting at intervals so that the lighting “halos” overlap.  This ensures adequate lighting both for landscape illumination as well as path illumination.

It is also best to place the lighting so that it does not become a trip hazard.  For example, don’t place a lamp in the middle of a walkway or main garden thoroughfare, because during daylight hours, it might be overlooked, creating a hazard for the unsuspecting person.  Remember, landscape lighting is meant to be convenient, yet subtle, so place it where it can do the most good without getting in the way.

And don’t forget those wonderful garden accents, like statues and fountains.  They can be just as beautiful in the evening hours as they are in the daytime, so consider placing a landscape light nearby.
