What is Groundwater?

Answer:
For households that rely upon well water or spring
water for their water supply, groundwater is the source that generally supplies their homes.

Unlike surface soil moisture, groundwater is found deep within the earth, often well below the level of soil moisture, and is often referred to as subsurface water.  Groundwater seeps into porous rocks like limestone and is considered the primary source for natural aquifers, often taking years to build up.  As groundwater flows through its deep porous environment, it is filtered and purified, often picking up beneficial minerals along the way.  Groundwater is the main source of water for agricultural applications like farms and dairies.
