Where Can I Adopt a Pet?

Answer:
The places where you can adopt a pet
can differ greatly. Take the time to research all your options and decide which one would work the best for you, your family, and your new pet.

Animal shelters usually take in all types of stray animals and are found both in the country and in the country. The ASPCA states that “the first indication of a good animal shelter is mandatory sterilization of all animals” – even purebred ones. Humane societies are private facilities which may have open or limited access. There are also foster parents for animals waiting to be adopted. In addition to these possibilities, your local animal shelter may be a great place to find your new pet. A good shelter will work hard to place animals into loving homes with people who will be responsible pet owners.

Depending on where you adopt an animal the cost will vary. Most often, you will need to pay an “adoption fee” which cover vaccination and sterilization procedures. (These procedures may or may not have been performed.) If they have not yet been performed you may be required to show “proof” of sterilization for your pet.

Wherever you decide to adopt a pet from – make sure you are a loving and responsible pet owner!
