What are the Best Housing Markets in Arkansas for 2007?

Answer:
Arkansas...home to the Ozark Mountains and former
U.S. President William Jefferson Clinton.  Arkansas...a southern U.S. state bordering six other U.S. states; its eastern border made up mostly by the Mississippi River.  Arkansas...home to over 2.6 million Americans.

Housing markets in Arkansas have struggled along with the rest of the nation during 2007.  Most housing sales in the state have dipped significantly from 2006 figures.

As in numerous other real estate markets across the country, some sellers are being forced to lower their prices to below what is owed on the property; especially true in cases where people's adjustable-rate mortgages are climbing along with so many other debt burdens currently upon homeowners (i.e., health-care, gas/oil, foods, etc.).

At present, it appears the following regions in Arkansas are three of the most active with regard to housing sales, even though some of the sale prices are perhaps not what sellers would like them to be.

Pulaski County; home to Capital City of Little Rock; central to the state, this county has a (2000 census) population of around 360,000 people.  Housing sales, though slackened from 2006, are currently highest in the state.

Benton County; located in the northwest corner of the state, this county has a (2000 census) population of around 154,000 people.  Benton County housing sales make this region number two in Arkansas.

Washington County; located just south of Benton County, with a (2000 census) population of nearly 158,000 people, Washington County housing sales put this area at number three in Arkansas residential sales.
