What is a Courtyard?

Answer:
In ancient times, it was customary to build a home
around an inner courtyard, and this tradition is making a big comeback in newer homes.  A courtyard in a home is a central enclosure, which is open to the air.

Usually, courtyards are built using more extravagant materials like Italian tiles and Venetian glass, with the incorporation of intricate designs to add a sense of luxury and class to the outdoors.  Courtyards often connect one area of the house to another, making the courtyard accessible from several locations at once.

Courtyards typically host small gardens, with graceful architecture, exotic plants, and at least one water feature, such as a fountain or pond.  These outdoor rooms offer a wonderful place to entertain guests, and with larger establishments like hotels and conference centers, often become the favorite place of meeting.
