What is a Two-story Home?

Answer:
A two-story home is a home which is constructed
with two living areas, one above the other, and typically connected by stairs.

Each story or level may vary in ceiling height, as there is no standard measurement for a story.
The word story as it refers to a level of a building is somehow derived from the Medievil Latin word historia, which ultimately is associated with our modern word history

It becomes apparent that perhaps the word story as it relates to buildings is more associated with what may have been practiced in olden times to differentiate individual levels of some of the numerous multi-level, multi-inhabited building levels.
Folks may have painted their level differently than the level above or below, as many families shared single buildings.

Needless to say, the term used to describe a building story is one of those nebulous terms without real numbers readily assignable to it.  A story is not listed in the standard weights & measures  breakdown, thus it is not considered a standardized term.

Some building stories may be 8 feet, while others may be up to 15 feet, largely depending upon what, if anything, is done with the ceiling spaces of each level.  Thus, two 10-story buildings may not be the same actual overall height.

My personal rule of thumb regarding average heights of building stories is estimate each story to be around 12 or 13 feet.  That way, you're sure to be somewhere in the ballpark!
