Cement is defined as the fine, soft and powdery substance Cement is mainly of grey color but it can also be white color. Cement is a powdery substance which is widely used in construction purpose because of its ability to bind sand and gravel, in presence of water, into hard & solid mass known as Concrete. Cement is manufactured on large scale by industries and it can be obtained from building supply stores where it is available in bags. The various application of Cement includes preparation of concrete, mortar, cement tiles, in the process of plastering, building houses, offices, in developing tourism facilities as well as in infrastructure development like roads, airports, bridges, harbors, reservoirs, etc. Cement is made by the process of Calcination in which Limestone is heated with small quantity of clay to 1450°C in a Kiln. The process of Cement manufacturing results in the emission of green house gases in the environment and also results in causing pollution in form of dust, gases, noise, as well as disturbances through quarrying, etc. However Cement industry also results in employment generation for a large number of people either directly or indirectly. The major Cement producer countries of the world are China, India and America. Today there are many Cement producing industries worldwide only because of its greater demand and future needs.
