The best time to buy a home is at the end of the year, after homes have sat on the market for months, with little or no activity.

Fall and Winter house shopping, though not as comfortable as Spring and early Summer shopping, enables a potential buyer to look for problems in a home, like structural cracks, drafts, and efficiency. These issues get worse with cold weather and cannot be easily hidden.

Also, at the end of the year, in December, most sellers are anxious to offload their homes because the holidays are just around the corner. By this time, sellers are tired of the home, tired of the process, and tired of the extra expense associated with selling a home, making December the best time to buy a home.

Remember, the best time to buy a home will always be the time of year when no one is thinking about buying a home. You are just about guaranteed to get the best deals when no one else is looking.
