Attic needs more insulation? Can I do this? |

Answer:
Adding more insulation doesn't have a nice ring First off prepare the attic for insulation. You don't want to cover up anything you have stored in there and you don't want old useless insulation left behind. Pull the bad stuff out and dispose of it. Easiest way I know to get this job done is to visit your home improvement store and rent their insulation blower. Often times, if you buy 20 bags you rent the machine for free. It's worth it. Believe it or not this insulation made up of shredded paper and grocery bags. I love using recycled material. NOTE: REUSE, RENEW, RECYCLE. IT SHOULDN'T BE A CHOICE. WE NEED TO KEEP AS MUCH AS WE CAN OUT OF OUR LANDFILLS. The machine consists of a hopper and a hose. One person pours the insulation in the hopper, and another person waits for the insulation to be blown out of the hose. The hoses often strech around 50' so you will be able to get around with it. Determine how much insulation you need and where and simply let the blower throw it in for you. It's not a bad job and not only are you using recycled materials but you are increasing the engery effiecency of your home. Saves you money and helps out our dear environment. Good luck.
