What is a Backsplash?

Answer:
With more modern kitchens and bathrooms comes more
modern technologies, designed to enhance and protect. Backsplashes are just such a technology designed to protect wallboard and paneling from damage caused by water.

Backsplashes extend vertically behind a countertop and can have a height anywhere between a couple of inches, as is the case with integrated backsplashes, or up to a foot or more.

Integrated backsplashes are molded into the countertop itself and range in height from three to five inches.  Integrated backsplashes offer protection from water that pools on the counter.

The protective region behind the counter can be increased by the addition of backsplash tiles, which help to protect the walls from water spray and from food splatter.  All in all, backsplashes are a great investment for any kitchen or bathroom.
