What is "hardibacker", cement board, concrete board used for? |

Answer:
If you like to take on small projects around the house, you will soon run in to laying some tile at some point. This is a material you will want to be familiar with before you get too far along.
In most cases, tile is laid in spaces where water is in play. Cement backer boards are placed below the tile giving you something to glue the tile to. Cement board resists extended exposure to moisture and provides a nice surface for you to affix your tile. You can find varities of this material at any of the home improvement stores. They will be located in building materials by the drywall or in the tile section.
Don't forget the screws most brands require you to use when fastening the boards.
