What is Stucco?

Answer:
If you find yourself attracted to the beautiful Spanish
style home, with its terracotta tile roofs and white outer walls, you are not alone.  Millions of people the world over are drawn to the appealing purity of white Stucco.  This traditional plaster mixture of cement, lime, sand, and water has graced the walls and ceilings of civilizations the world over, from ancient Greece to modern Mexico.

This sturdy material is designed to weather the abuse of the great outdoors, but is easily utilized in any location.  Stucco can be left white or can be painted, and is often spread on walls and ceilings in attractive, decorative patterns.  Stucco can even by painted with imaginative murals, like those found in ancient Rome and Pompeii.  With a little bit of preparation and a bit more hard work, there is no limit to the beauty that a stucco wall or ceiling can add to a house or garden area.

Stucco is applied like mortar in that you use a Trowel and spread it on leaving some texture.  Be sure your Stucco is mixed correctly as it can be difficult to get it to stick and set on walls.
