What is Treated Lumber?

Answer:
Building a deck or patio can be a very big investment,
depending upon the size, so to protect that investment, it is a good idea to use treated lumber.

Treated lumber is conventional lumber that has been infused, under pressure, with chemicals which prevent damage to the material that is typically caused by insects, like termites and carpenter bees, or damage caused by wood rot, which typically occurs due to exposure to moisture.  Older methods of producing treated lumber were found to be toxic and dangerous to pets and small children, so newer methods have been developed to make treated lumber safer to use around the house for outdoor home-improvement projects like decks, patios, and play sets.
